A Special Road Trip For Our Members

When exercising and working out whether for fat loss, muscle building or just overall general fitness, it is important to continually mix up your routines and exercises to ensure that your body is constantly being challenged. Doing the same old routine over and over again will cause your body to plateau, meaning it will stop changing and adapting, hence no more fat loss and no more muscle building, exactly the opposite of what you're trying to achieve.

With that in mind, members of the Mississauga Women's Fitness Camp go on hikes and other active outings on a regular basis to learn and experience new ways to challenge themselves. Not to mention the social aspect of these outings, which are just fantastic.

This Saturday, August 1, members of the Mississauga Women's Fitness Camp will be taking a road trip to Milton. While in Milton the fitcamp members will be attending a pole fit class at Live Once Pole Dance and Fitness Studio.

The Pole Fit Class is a challenging and effective circuit style fitness class which utilizes a pole as a strength training tool. The ladies will be climbing, lifting, pulling, pushing, leaping and performing static holds with the pole. It's a class where the whole body is worked in this super fun fitness class. The ladies are really looking forward to this special outing and it's sure to be a big hit.

Who Wants to Get Fit and Have FUN?

One of the great experiences you can expect to receive each and every time you come to a class of the Mississauga Women's Fitness Camp, besides the interesting fat loss workouts, besides the inches you will lose from your hips, thighs and butt, besides the great ladies you will meet, is the amount of FUN you will have.

Take a look at the video below and see for yourself just how much FUN the ladies of the Mississauga Women's Fitness Camp have while burning fat.

I must warn you though, make sure your speaker volume is not set to high. The amount of laughing and screaming these ladies are doing while burning fat may be louder than what you're used too.

When you're finished watching the video, please take a moment and leave a comment. I'd love to hear what you think about having fun and getting fit.

Thank you,

Holy Garbanzo Bean Batman!

Beans are very inexpensive and offer a lot of nutritional value. Garbanzo beans, also known as chick peas, are one of my favourites. Just one half cup offers 5 g of fibre and 7 grams of protein.
Here's a great recipe for something I can't get enough of: Hummus or Chick-Pea Spread

Ingredients:

1 cup canned chick-peas, drained and rinsed in cold water
¼ cup water
¾ tsp garlic, crushed
2 tbsp lemon juice

4 tsp extra-virgin olive oil
¼ cup tahini (sesame seed paste)
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Directions:

Combine chick-peas, water, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and tahini in a food processor until smooth in texture.

Transfer to either a serving dish, and garnish with parsely. Serve it immediately as a dip for vegetable sticks. Or, to use later, transfer it to a tight sealing container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. I also use it to mix in with some canned tuna or salmon. Enjoy.

Our Hiking Memories

What a Way to Spend a Saturday Morning!

Today, some of the members of the Mississauga Women's Fitness Camp and I enjoyed a beautiful three hour hike along the Niagara Escarpment at Kelso Conservation Area in Milton. If you've never been before, it's definitely worth the trip.

The hike is a pretty steady uphill climb right from the get go which really activates the quads, hamstrings and glutes. It didn't take long before the smell of burning calories filled the air. This was a workout you'll never get on any machine found in the gym, so don't waste your time ladies on those machines, unless your more interested in watching tv talk shows as opposed to burning fat and sculpting your muscles. The choice is yours.

As we hiked along the edge of the rock face, we were rewarded with some pretty spectacular views. Stopping to refuel and rehydrate, we continued along at a pretty good clip. We even stopped to do some push ups along the way, after all , we can't let the lower body have all the fun.

There was lots of conversation and lots of bonding during our hike. At end of it all, everyone agreed it was a great way to spend a Saturday morning. I can hardly wait for our next hike. They keep getting better and better.

There was even some talk about future rock climbing and mountain biking excursions. How exciting is that?

Way to go ladies. You were awesome!
